1. What StaceLib is

StaceLib is a personal home-library service: it helps you catalogue books you own, organise them onto shelves, and keep notes and reviews. It is operated as a small independent service, not by a company with a support department — please keep that in mind.

2. Your account

You need an account to use StaceLib. Keep your password to yourself and tell us if you believe your account has been compromised. You are responsible for activity that happens under your account. One person per account, please.

3. Your content

Your library, shelves, private notes, and reviews are yours. Private notes and private reviews are visible only to you. If you mark a review as public, you grant StaceLib permission to display it (with your display name and star rating) to other users — you can make it private again or delete it at any time.

4. Free service and future paid plans

StaceLib is currently free. A paid plan may be introduced in the future to cover running costs — if that happens, you will be told in advance, and any limits will apply to collection size and features, never to taking your data with you: you can export your full library as CSV at any time, free, from the Library page.

5. Acceptable use

Don't abuse the service: no attempts to access other people's data, no automated scraping of the catalogue, no bulk account creation, and no posting of unlawful or abusive content in public reviews. Accounts that abuse the service can be suspended or removed.

6. Book data and cover images

Bibliographic data (titles, authors, publishers, and so on) comes from open sources — principally Open Library — supplemented by other book-data providers. Cover images remain the property of their respective publishers and are displayed for identification purposes only. If you hold rights to a cover or record and want it removed, contact us (below) and we will take it down.

7. Availability and liability

StaceLib is provided as-is, without warranties of any kind. We work to keep it available and to back up data regularly, but we cannot guarantee uninterrupted service or that data will never be lost — please keep your own CSV exports of anything you cannot afford to lose. To the maximum extent permitted by law, StaceLib's liability to you is limited to the amount you have paid for the service (which, today, is nothing).

8. Changes

These terms may change as the service evolves. Material changes will be announced on this page with an updated date above. Continuing to use StaceLib after a change means you accept the new terms.
